“What’s wrong?”
“Wrong?”
“Yes, you look – upset.”
“Upset?”
“Yes, you went into
the house and then turned around and just came back out, looking – scared. So, what’s wrong?”
“I started going
into our house, but then it wasn’t our house.”
“I wasn’t our house,
what do you mean?”
“No. No, it wasn’t our house. Everything was different, changed; the walls,
the lights, even the smells. The floors
were – different, tiled, even the lights were brighter. I went in and every room was larger,
decorated differently. Then I overheard
distant voices and went to find who they were.
They were muttering in a different language but then a moment later I
could understand them, but they were talking about things – that couldn’t have been
possible or just not right. Then I came
to the room with a huge dining table and saw two men and two women discussing –I
couldn’t listen anymore and then turned to leave and that’s when I was coming out the door again. That’s when you saw me. What’s wrong; everything in there?
“Yes, I’m very
scared, because I know if I go in there again it will be our house and then I’ll
realize I’m going mad. I must be losing
my mind to think I saw what I did and know that if I go back in there it won’t
be. I must be crazy thinking about a
missing room.”
The woman smiled reassuringly,
“Savil, you’re not going mad or crazy, you’re just exhausted from working out
in the heat.”
“Thank you for that
Dena,” He quivered, “I love you too, but I am going mad for I remembered now
what those voices were talking about.”
She asked, “The people in the ‘missing room’?”
“Yes, about how we
lived – and died.”
I am currently working on two distinctly different novels, one has an Epic fantasy setting and the other modern-contemporary. Characters from one are dreaming about characters from the other as the others are seeing and experiences the other world as well. Time travel crossover.
