hey, I don't think you understand. Israel has the bomb, and is an opressive colonial state. When somebody tells you "they" are savage and irrational, "they" are not like us, usually it's because the people saying this want to get you all riled up so that "we" can send young people to go get killed in a useless war that enriches "us"...well, some of us.
If the Iranians had the bomb there would be peace in the middle east, albeit an uneasy one. The Iranians are just sane but different from us. They're no more likely to give nuclear technology to someone like hezbollah or hamas than the republicans would be so nuts as to give the bomb to wacko-American white power groups who hate democrats.
If you get everyone so scared that anyone who dares say you're wrong will be dismissed as on the side of the terrorists, well, that's how unneccessary wars get started, and how evil SOBs who are on "our" side solidify their grip on power.
So, my challenge to you is this: believe what they tell you better believe, under threat of being labeled a crazy, evil free-thinking radical, or think for yourself and come to your own conclusions.
I think espousing military action against a nation that hasn't displayed an expansionist bent, one with a HUGE population of army age people, all of which are highly educated, is a bad idea.
There's been signs for the last ten years that the younger generation, as younger and highly educated generations are wont, is going to crack and move on their own.
An invasion will just get them to band together against us, and leave us with another burden to bear when we can't afford the one we picked up.
1. just because a couple of tories in the UK advise military action against Iran doesn't mean that it's a consensus view throughout Europe(I did check the link-- the point is you seem to be advocating their view by posting the image. yes, no?)
2. I just hope you don't automatically jump to the conclusion that when politicians demonize some group or nation and say they're crazy that don't suspens your skeptical side and just buy that bill of goods without reflecting on it, and what motives they may have in saying that "the other guy"(or country, whatever) is crazy.
My experience is usually the other guy is NOT crazy, but has a different set of interests than "our guy", and is also acting according to his perception of his best interests, as pretty much everybody does.
It's simple: Israel has nukes. Given the unfriendly neighborhood they're in, they owe it to themselves to hold on to them. Likewise, Iran is afraid of a nuclear Israel, and sees it as being in their interest to acquire them, so Israel doesn't do anything stupid.
hey,
